   This is one of those books everyone should read at least once. Franklins story is amazing not just for what he accomplished but for how honestly he tells it. The part about his 13 virtues is worth the price alone. Ive read it three times now and find something new each time.

   I was surprised by how readable this is. Franklin had a real talent for storytelling. His description of arriving in Philadelphia as a young runaway with nothing but a few shillings is one of the best scenes in American literature. Only complaint is the end feels a bit unfinished but thats because he died before completing it.

   A founding father who was also a printer, inventor, diplomat, and philosopher. Franklins life makes you feel lazy by comparison. The autobiography is full of practical wisdom, like his method for learning to write well by imitating good authors. Highly recomend to anyone interested in American history or self improvement.

   Franklin comes across as a genuinely likeable person, which is rare for historical figures. He admits his mistakes and doesnt take himself too seriously. The section on his moral experiment (trying to achieve perfection and failing) is both funny and instructive. The edition itself is well formatted with clear chapters.

   I got this for my son who was studying the American Revolution and ended up reading the whole thing myself. Franklins voice is so immediate and warm you feel like hes sitting across from you telling his story. The chapter about his electrical experiments is fascinating, especially the kite. A true American classic.
