The story that introduced Sherlock Holmes. When a man is found dead in an abandoned house with the word RACHE written in blood, the great detective must unravel a mystery that spans two continents and reaches back decades.
Description
A Study in Scarlet (1887) is the novel that introduced the world to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. It remains one of the most influential detective stories ever written.
Dr. Watson, recently returned from military service in Afghanistan, meets the eccentric Sherlock Holmes and becomes his roommate at 221B Baker Street. When a murder case arrives at Scotland Yard, Holmes is called upon to apply his revolutionary methods of observation and deduction. The victim is found in a blood-spattered room with no visible wounds, and the word RACHE written on the wall in crimson.
The investigation takes Holmes and Watson through the foggy streets of London, following a trail that leads to a hansom cab and a mysterious wedding ring. But the solution to the crime lies not in London but in the American West, in a story of love, revenge, and survival among the Mormon pioneers of Utah.
Part detective novel, part Western adventure, A Study in Scarlet established the template for the modern mystery. Holmes’s methods of observation, his use of forensic science, and his brilliant deductions were revolutionary for their time and remain thrilling today.

The one that started it all. Seeing Holmes and Watson meet for the first time is such a treat. The Utah section threw me off at first but it all comes together brilliantly. Great edition, no complaints.

Essential reading for any mystery fan. Doyle’s introduction of Holmes is masterful. The second half of the book shifts tone dramatically but it works. The edition is clean and well formatted. Would be nice to have a map of the crime scene but thats a minor thing.

Ive read all the Holmes stories but somehow never got around to this one. So glad I did. Its amazing how fully formed Holmes is right from the start. The whole thing with the pills is genius. Definitley worth the price.

Really enjoyed this. The mystery is clever and Holmes is such a fun character. The american part was unexpected but I liked it. The edition is nice and easy to read on my phone.
