Thomas Gordon Hake (1809–1895) occupies a distinctive position in Victorian poetry. A physician by profession and a poet by vocation, he moved in the circle of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, counting Dante Gabriel Rossetti among his closest friends and admirers.
This DodaBooks edition presents 27 selected poems spanning more than fifty years of Hake’s creative life, from The Piromides (1839) to The New Day (1890). The selection was made by Alice Meynell, who contributed a prefatory note, and includes Rossetti’s portrait of the author.
