A narrative poem set in the Scottish Highlands, where a chance encounter between a hunted stag and a mysterious knight sets in motion a tale of love, honor, and clan warfare against the backdrop of Loch Katrine.
Description
Sir Walter Scott’s The Lady of the Lake (1810) is a sweeping narrative poem set in the Trossachs region of the Scottish Highlands. The poem follows the fortunes of Ellen Douglas, the Lady of the Lake, as she navigates the intersecting paths of the outlawed Clan Alpine, a mysterious knight known as Fitz-James, and the fugitive heir Malcolm Graeme.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Loch Katrine, the poem weaves together romance, clan warfare, and Scottish history in six cantos of masterfully crafted verse.

Scott at his poetic best. The Lady of the Lake is a masterpeice of romantic storytelling. The way he weaves together Highland history and legend is brillant. Couldnt put it down.

Beautiful poem, beautifuly formatted. The canto navigation works well on my Kindle. I wish the notes from the old edition were included but the poem itself is complete and well presented.

I’ve been wanting to read this for years honestly it did not dissapoint. The Trossachs landscape comes alive in Scott’s verse. The stag hunt in Canto One had me on the edge of my seat.
Robert P. –
Lovely edition of a classic Scottish poem. The formatting is clean and professional. Would be nice if there were illustrations but the text is the star here and it shines.
